A man arrested on Tuesday for possessing child porn allegedly told investigations he only got into it because of Jared Fogle, the Subway guy.
Marc Rico Miller faces 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, The Smoking Gun reports. In a statement obtained by TSG, investigators said they linked 266 files of child porn downloaded on a peer-to-peer network to Miller’s home in a nudist colony near Phoenix, Arizona. Investigators said Miller admitted to the allegations after they executed a search warrant.
Miller allegedly told detectives he “became interested after seeing Jared, the spokesperson from Subway get arrested,” and started to “research” child porn.
Investigators said they know of no allegations in which Miller personally abused a child.
Jared Fogle, 38, became famous as a spokesperson for the Subway sandwich chain, but that ended when the FBI raided his home in July, 2015. He’s currently serving a 15 year, 8 month prison sentence after pleading guilty to one count of distribution and receipt of child pornography, and one count of traveling to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor.
